Client Service Agent I

Location: Salt Lake City Utah

Demonstrates competence in the policies, procedures and processes associated with delivering excellent customer service at ARUP Laboratories. Provides a sup! portive link between ARUP customers both internal and external, while demonstrating a professional image through phone, email and other communications to ARUP customers.

Reporting Function:
This position reports to the Client Services Supervisor(s) or designee.

Essential Functions:
The agent facilitates communications by effectively navigating computer and phone systems, while following all corporate and departmental standard operating procedures for both internal and external customers, including, but not limited to:

1. Build and maintain customer relationships throughout all communications while providing a positive, professional and empathetic understanding to all customers.

2. Create and modify patient orders and demographics by following complex ordering procedure(s) and utilizing multiple ordering systems.

3. Prioritize, research and respond to requests for test information, specimen requirements, supp! lies and fees associated with vendor and internal testing.
4. Provide education, guidance, and troubleshooting to customers regarding available resources and application utility.

5. Foster communications and exhibit exceptional customer service in all professional interactions.

6. Exercise careful deliberation and judgment pertaining to complex job requirements and responsibilities in order to best serve the patient, client and ARUP.

7. Promote and exercise information management through case ownership, prioritization, handling, documentation, reporting and follow-through when appropriate.

8. Exhibits high quality performance through accuracy, thoroughness, and commitment in a timely manner.

9. Other duties and special projects as assigned by the Client Services Supervisor(s) or designee.
Job Qualifications

Education/Credentials required:
High school diploma or equivalent

Education/Credentials preferred:
Associate’s Degree in communicat! ion, related medical sciences or other applicable field.

Minimum experience/skills required:

  • One year previous experience in a customer service environment
  • Basic computer skills including internet proficiency
  • Basic keyboarding skills (35 wpm)
Experience/skills preferred:
  • One year of previous experience in a call center environment
  • General medical laboratory experience
  • HIPAA training/knowledge
Physical and other requirements:
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal
  • Fine motor coordination
  • Good visual acuity including color perception
  • Mobility
Ability to organize work, to meet deadlines and to work under stressful conditions.

  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Ability to work al! l required overtime and various shift assignments influenced by customer demand
  • Must be able to lift 5-10 pounds as needed.
