The Senior Lean Manufacturing Engineer supports the mission of the Manufacturing Team by providing technical support and leadership in delivering continuous improvem! ents in safety, quality, productivity, and cost metrics. The Engineer supports new product development and commercialization, capital project implementation, material cost reduction projects, and ongoing improvements in labor utilization and productivity. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: Serve as Lean champion within manufacturing team, providing leadership and support in the implementation of Lean manufacturing methodologies. Lead 5S, Visual Management, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen and other Lean activities, with common execution across two manufacturing facilities. Analyze and develop plans for improved workflow, space and labor utilization, and design equipment layout and workspaces for maximum efficiency. Develop and improve manufacturing processes, utilizing knowledge of product design, fabrication processes, assembly methods, and quality control standards. Document processes through Standard Operating Procedures, and establish appropriate labor standards. As required, lead c! apital projects to drive improved processes. Partner with supp! liers to identify equipment needs and related costs, to develop and document business cases in support of capital requests. Manage capital projects through procurement, installation, startup, process validation, and transfer to maintenance and operations. Identify and analyze process cycles times, required staffing and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, preferably Industrial/Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering 5-10 years Lean Manufacturing engineering experience, with leadership experience in Lean implementation. 3+ years capital project management experience. Focused training and/or working experience with Lean methodologies, continuous improvement and problem-solving tools. Strong skills in data collection, analysis, and decision-making. Preferred Six Sigma Green Belt or DMAIC process familiarity. Proficiency with Microsoft Windows-based software, including Microsoft Office applications. Experi! ence with PTC ProEngineer/Creo and Windchill preferred. Experience with Oracle applications optional. Strong skills in communication, cross-functional team work, and collaborative decision making. Experience in developing, reading and understanding technical drawings, specifications, and bills of materials.
