The Job description is as follows:
The Benefits Specialist is responsible for the administration of employee benefit plans such! as health, disability, paid time off, leave of absence, 401(k! ) retirement and worker compensation programs.

The responsibilities include:
  • Administer various employee benefit plans including enrollment, status changes and terminations.
  • Assist in the preparation of materials and presenting the benefit package to new employees.
  • Provides vendors appropriate documentation for enrollment and billing purposes. Processes monthly billings to vendors. Reviews billing statements for accuracy and investigates any discrepancies found.
  • Administers workers compensation plans in all 50 states. Takes initial call for injuries and relay information to vendor. Monitors cases from beginning to closure, getting involved to solve problems arising.
  • Provides feedback and makes recommendations to management about possible program changes to support ongoing organizational needs. Analyzes employee utilization of benefits on an ongoing basis.
  • Maintain database system on benefit choices an! d payroll deductions. Produce reports on enrollment, deductions and plan participation.
  • Prepares and maintains department related reporting including, but not limited to, call tracking and department metrics.
  • Act as advocate for employees. Work with vendors to solve issues arising in administration and claims.
  • Other projects and assignments as provided by management.
Necessary Background:
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • In depth understanding of employee benefit plans and administration.
  • Strong computer spreadsheet skills (MS Excel)
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
Necessary experience and abilities:
  • 2 or more years of professional experience in benefits administration.
  • Experience in employee benefits and administration
  • Ability to work and communicate with both ! internal and external employees and vendors.
  • Ability to handle! multiple tasks at the same time quickly and accurately while meeting all deadlines provided.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to meet changing business needs.
