Job Summary:The Specialist 1, Instructional Technology:
Provides first-level support in ! the teaching, maintenance and improvement of courses in technology-enabled learning environments.
The Specialist 2, Instructional Technology:
Provides first-level support in the teaching, maintenance and improvement of courses in technology-enabled learning environments.
The Specialist 3, Instructional Technology:
Provides first-level support in the teaching, maintenance and improvement of courses in technology-enabled learning environments. This position also serves a mentoring role to Instructional Technologists 1 and 2.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties include :
- Serves as a support resource in the teaching, maintenance a nd improvement of course sites.
- Troubleshoots and resolves course site concerns/problems/issues.
- Remains current with and has a thorough understanding of technology tools and trends in online education.
- Liaises between eLearning Support and departments/di! visions to coordinate requests for proactive con tact with stu! dents during term.
- Performs detailed quality control reviews for cour ses/products under development.
- Ensures smooth transition of course sites and content from term to term.
- Communicates regularly and proactively with departments/divisions on course site issues and status, including ensuring course sites are in compliance with institutional templates and standards.
- Facilitates 1-on-1 and group training/consultation sessions on the use of LMS and college-owned elearning or web development software. This work will include creating tutorials and other aides for faculty and staff.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
- Bachelorâs Degree in related field strongly preferred.
- Associateâs Degree in Web Development, Instructional Technology, Graphic Design, Computer Science, Communication, Education, Multi! media, or a related field. Zero (0) to two (2) years direct experience in elearning/online course development or basic web development (can be concurrent with below).
- One (1) to two (2) years direct experience in customer service/support (can be concurrent with above).
- Associateâs Degree in Web Development, Instructional Technology, Graphic Design, Computer Science, Communication, Education, Multimedia, or a related field.
- Two (2) to four (4) years direct experience in elearning/online course development or basic web development (can be concurrent with below).
- Two (2) to four (4) years direct experience in customer service/support (can be concurrent with above).
- Associateâs Degree in Web Development, Instructional Technology, Graphic Design, Computer Science, Communication, Education, Multimedia, or a related field.
- Four to six-plus years of expe! rience in elearning/online course development or basic web development ! (can be concurrent with below).
- Four to six-plus years of experience in customer service/support (can be concurrent with above).
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Excellent customer-service skills
- Highly developed organization skills
- Ability to concurrently manage multiple assigned tasks
- Ability to work independently with limited direction
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Skill in documentation of time, effort, processes
- Familiarity with principles of instructional design and roles involved in elearning and web development
- Skill in assessment of instructional needs in order to recommend appropriate approaches/applications/tools
- Fluency and comfort in use of technology in everyday life
- Fluency in navigating the web and using web-based tools to facilitate work, learn! ing, collaboration, productivity, research, etc.
- Fluency in using popular productivity software (MS Office suite or equivalent) on either Windows or Mac operating systems
- Sound understanding of, and ability to use fundamental web development technologies (e.g. HTML, CSS)
- Efficiency with using elearning development tools/software (e.g.: Dreamweaver, Fireworks/Photoshop, Respondus, LMS, Canvas, Camtasia, Articulate products, etc).
- Ability to use cloud-based collaboration, support and project management software (e.g.: knowledgebase, help desk ticketing, Clarizen, screen sharing, etc.)
