This position will have the responsibilities of p! erforming preliminary structural designs and material quantity take-offs of support systems for belt conveyors, overland conveyors, feeders, transfer towers, various types of stations, review of structural specifications from clients, completion of data sheets and bid forms, submittal and evaluation of RFQ's, performing both technical and commercial evaluations, preparing technical descriptions of structural components and systems for heavy industrial, material handling systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other responsibilities may be assigned):
 Perform preliminary analysis of structures associated with material handling and conveying equipment.
 Perform structural material quantity take-offs (MTO) for conveying systems, and ancillary systems including, trusses, bents, stringers, terminal frames, transfer towers, take-up towers, screening/crushing stations, etc.
 Perform chutework/platework material quantity take-offs (! MTO) for conveying systems including, skirtboards, head and tr! ansfer chutes, bins, hoppers, etc.
 Perform review of client specifications and identify/define associated structural requirements.
 Gather necessary information from a variety of data sources including AutoCAD drawings, computer models, historical data, etc.
 Ability to work well in a group setting and coordinate information from other offices globally.
 Good technical writing skills. Ability to accurately describe, in written format, the equipment and materials which have been estimated.
 Ability to read and understand flowsheets and drawings for material handling systems.
 Ability to visualize and identify material handling system requirements for belt conveyors and systems.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

 EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor of Science degree in civil or structural engineering and five to ten years progressive experience in structural engineering design, cost engineering/estimating, and proposal preparation; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
 LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures. Ability to write technical portions of proposals and possess written communication skills. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, engineers, clients, and customers. Fluency in Spanish a plus.
 MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Applied engineering mathematics, statistics, and business and economic analysis.
 REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of co! ncrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exist! s. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
 OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Computer literacy and use of spreadsheets, databases, word processing, CAD, 3-D and solid modeling software. Knowledge of structural mechanics, materials science, and materials capabilities.
 PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, t! oxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
