Field EH&S Representative

Responsible for overall administration of project EH&S, accountability programs, accident and fire protection programs and maintaining full compliance with company, cli! ent and state/federal EH&S regulations. Knowledge of heavy construction rigging, crane, scaffold, fall protection, welding and electrical safety. Experience in heavy construction and industrial work.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Assists in controlling hazardous working conditions and unsafe employee activities through interface with project management/supervisory personnel.
Verifies âAccountability Programsâ on all projects for EH&S-related issues and work with supervision to ensure uniform application for EH&S related discipline.
Conducts regular field EH&S audits.
Participates in field EH&S meetings, JSAâs.
Conducts or schedules training (as required) for supervision and field employees for new hire/rehire orientations, client orientations, SAP, S.T.A.R.T., etc. and other training as may be required to maintain compliance with Corporate EH&S Manual procedures or state/federal safety regulations.
Investigates p! ersonal injury, property damage or near-miss accidents. The Ta! p Root investigations shall include pictures, employee and witness interviews, etc. while completing all required forms and reports.
Removes employees from unsafe working environments and activities, including stopping work if necessary.
Ensures that all field projects are managing and enforcing subcontractor and vendor EH&S programs.
Conducts industrial hygiene sampling as required, such as chrome 6, benzene, H2s, noise levels, etc. to ensure safe working conditions.
Calibrates gas monitors for field assignments, as required.
Verifies that all permitting procedures are in compliance.
Assists operations in the development of site-specific EH&S plans.
Performs other functions, as directed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Preferred 4-year occupational safety and health degree.
Equivalent combinations of technical training and/or 5 years construction related EH&S experience.
Thorough understan! ding of all federal, state and company safety regulations.
Ability to recognize hazardous situations and recommend corrective measures.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
PHYSICAL/SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work may involve standing and walking for extended periods of time. Work may include occasional pushing, pulling or carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds such as tools and equipment.
