Claims Support Specialist [United States]


 

Overview: Under general direction, this position is responsible for administratively supporting the claims process in a timely and effective manner, while at the same time recognizing the special needs of elderly claimants and their families. While fulfilling those needs in a prompt and courteous manner the highest possible level of customer service.

Job Duties

1. Uses excellent verbal and written communication to gather information from insureds, agents, attorneys, doctors, nursing care facilities and Care Managers, to support the claims process.

2. Precisely and consistently updates the claims system comments to reflect current status; information obtained, documentation required/requested, details of inquiries, contact information and actions taken, and appropriate follow-up target dates.

3. Meets telephonic customer service expectations as measured by formal audit and Supervisors’ work review.

4. Manages transactions related to payments, such as requesting additional information from insureds and care providers, and responding to inquiries from insureds, check stops and voids, and overpayments.

5. Other duties as assigned.

6. Upholds performance standards.

Prerequisites for the Job

  • Minimum 1-year previous experience in insurance office, law firm, doctor’s office or equivalent.
  • Previous long term care or disability claims experience is a plus but not required.
  • Proficiency in oral and written English language communication.
  • Willingness to work cooperatively with others.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and projects under time constraints.
  • Previous experience using email, Internet, Windows and Microsoft Office and other applicable computer systems.
  • Well organized.
  • Two years college (AA Degree) or equivalent.
  • Physical and mental requirements for General Office personnel.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $31.25 per hour
