Parks Maintenance Worker 2
CLOSING DATE: January 29, 2018
STARTING SALARY: $15.70 - $22.76 (Starting pay generally $18.08 per hour, DOE)
STATUS: Full-time with full benefits (health, dental, vision, life, retirement, etc)
DEPARTMENT: Parks Division of Public Works Department
JOB SUMMARY: Performs a variety of working level skilled and semi-skilled duties related to the construction, installation, maintenance, upkeep and repair of recreational facilities, buildings and parks. This position will specialize in open space maintenance using chemical application and equipment to control weeds.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from high school and four (4) years of experience in the maintenance, upkeep and beautifications of turf and parks or an equivalent combination of education and experience; ability to lift 50 pounds; requires a wide range of skills, including carpentry, plumbing, routine electrical and general custodial work; must have a working knowledge of building and park maintenance equipment such as mowers, tractors, aerators and trimmers; knowledge and application of landscape and sprinkler systems; understanding of herbicides, fungicides, insecticides and pesticides; ability to recognize, identify, and apply chemicals for the abatement and eradication of noxious weeds and insects; ability to communicate verbally and in writing; ability to develop effective working relationships with supervisor, subordinates, and the public.
